Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Location is unbeatable. Right in tranquil Rammang Rammang village. You are staying within UNESCO listed park with the most stunning views all around. So much better to stay overnight rather than come in as a day trip. A proper homestay. Host were fantastic. Also via this homestay guide Sandi was able to take us on a tour and liase with the property that was super helpful. We did the bat and firefly tour that host deSerang offered. Thought it might not be all that great as you can see that bats flying from our deck. But was brilliant to be cruising around the waterways just after sunset to get a closer view of the bats and then to sit in silence to watch fireflies do their thing. All in all a very memorable stay.

Negative: The rooms are relatively expensive by Sulawesi standards, but being peak season and given the location it makes sense. I don't expect a feast but breakfast was a too basic, either cassava root or pancakes. Simple enough to offer omelettes for example at only a small cost to the host.The other thing was that there are four rooms, two with AC and two without. We were the only guests. Our Booking.com had AC but somehow we ended up in the non-AC (very hot) room for the first night. I clarified this with guide Sandi who alerted the host to this. We were move to AC room. Probably just a mistake on the hosts part but worth checking that what you booked matches what you get.

Summary: Unbeatable location, great hosts and memorable stay.
