Positive: Sampari Paradise Homestay is in a more isolated location near Dayang Island. The bungalows all have private bathrooms with bucket bathing. The bungalows are simple and well provisioned. Meals were all tasty with large portion sizes, mainly fish at lunch and dinner. The only fruit made available were bananas. Power is on from late afternoon til early in the morning. The is no Telkomsel wifi signal at Sampari Paradise, you will need to catch a 10 min ride into the local village on one of the 3 homestay longboats to get wifi. We took every tour they offered bc this area of Batanta is awesome. Dayang Island is less than 15 mins from Sampari. Manta rays come for cleaning in the bay in front of Dayang Island, we snorkelled for over 1 hr with a group of 3 mantas all 3 to 4 metres in width. We did the waterfalls trip - full day with lunch on Arefi Island. The waterfalls are spectacular and highly recommended. Bring solid shoes as the track can be steep in parts, slippery and muddy. We did another full day trip to Wai Island where we saw a variety of cuscus, bats, coconut crabs, large weaver spiders and jungle trials, then went snorkelling to Kri Reef (not Kri Island), this amazing reef surrounds a small sandbar that just appears in the middle of the ocean, then had lunch on Arun Island, again just a tiny sandbar in the middle of the ocean with a few trees for shade. Outside of high tide, you can walk out 50 to 100 metres in most directions all around Arun Island in waist deep crystal clear turquoise water. The best feature of Sampari Paradise is the homestay owner Olof and his large West Papuan family. English is very limited, so you will need your Translate App. They always have beaming genuine smiles and very willing to provide any assistance to make your stay with them unforgettable. If you bring children on your Raja Ampat trip, they will have a really good time playing all day with Mr Olof’s gang of kids who live at Sampari. I would highly recommend Sampari Paradise
